Let’s be real – the tech sector still has a way to go in terms of equality and inclusion. It is typically male dominated and isn’t seen as the most attractive industry for women to get into early on in their careers. I have experienced it first hand and remain committed to tackling the issue in any small way I can.
I believe that we all have a role to play in terms of challenging the status quo. Initiatives like International Women’s Day are vital to embracing diversity and ensuring equitable treatment.
To me, inspiring inclusion means leading the way when it comes to proactively supporting women, fighting for equality and empowering their careers – doing, not just talking.
As co-founder of a leading renewable tech business, I have more opportunity than most to lead by example. It is a responsibility I take seriously. As a business, we push hard to recruit, retain and develop female talent and attend numerous events to attract women into STEM.
We ensure a high percentage of senior roles are taken up by female candidates and work hard to support the advancement of their careers. While far from perfect, myenergi makes a conscious effort to keep gender equity at the top of the agenda and we continue to push hard for positive change.
